Hamilton wrote in the Summit Daily that he lives in Cañon City and that he spent his campaign listening to residents in mountain towns, on the Western Slope, on the Eastern Plains and in cities.[3] On housing, he proposed expanding deed-restricted workforce housing, cutting red tape for modular housing, and giving local governments authority to license, cap and tax short-term rentals, with the revenue dedicated to workforce housing.[3] On water, he said he would defend Colorado's senior water rights and compact entitlements, fully fund the Colorado Water Plan, and oppose new transmountain diversions.[3] He said he would reform rather than repeal wolf reintroduction, and that he would order a performance audit of state government and require that new programs show how they will be paid for.[3]
In their own words
Priorities
- Workforce housing: deed-restricted housing built by local housing authorities and employers, modular housing approvals and construction-defect and insurance reform.[4]
- Water: defending Colorado’s senior water rights and compact entitlements and fully funding the Colorado Water Plan.[4]
- Budget reform: a top-to-bottom performance audit and a requirement that new programs identify their funding.[4]
Statements, quoted without a stance
- Loosen zoning rules to build more housing
“As governor, I would push for High Country-specific tools: expand state incentives for deed-restricted, workforce housing built by local housing authorities and employers, accelerate modular and manufactured housing approvals, and unlock underused state and federal land near existing infrastructure.”[5]

- Expand public health coverage
“As governor, I will order a top-to-bottom performance audit, enforce PAYGO — any new program must identify its funding — and modernize Medicaid delivery to cut waste, not eligibility.”[5]
