On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Governor of Colorado
Biography
Stephen T. Hamilton is the American Constitution Party's nominee for governor, on a joint ticket with James K. Treibert. He lives in Cañon City and says he is not a career politician. In an October 2026 opinion piece he laid out plans on housing, water, wolf reintroduction and the state budget.[1][2][3]
Hamilton wrote in the Summit Daily that he lives in Cañon City and that he spent his campaign listening to residents in mountain towns, on the Western Slope, on the Eastern Plains and in cities.[3] On housing, he proposed expanding deed-restricted workforce housing, cutting red tape for modular housing, and giving local governments authority to license, cap and tax short-term rentals, with the revenue dedicated to workforce housing.[3] On water, he said he would defend Colorado's senior water rights and compact entitlements, fully fund the Colorado Water Plan, and oppose new transmountain diversions.[3] He said he would reform rather than repeal wolf reintroduction, and that he would order a performance audit of state government and require that new programs show how they will be paid for.[3]
