Biography

Eric Mulder is the Libertarian Party's nominee for governor, on a joint ticket with Wayne Harlos. An Army veteran, security guard and small business owner, he has run for office as a Libertarian since 2018. His Ballotpedia survey lists a one-year sales tax holiday for qualifying counties, stricter limits on government access to surveillance footage, and a diversified energy supply as his key messages.[1][2][3]

Mulder served in the U.S. Army from 2010 to 2016.[3] He earned a bachelor's degree from Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design and has worked as a security guard and small business owner.[3] In 2024 he wrote that he had lived in Aurora since 2016 and served on the city's Civic Engagement Commission after earlier serving on its Veterans Affairs Commission.[3]

Mulder has been affiliated with the Libertarian Party of Arapahoe County and was the Libertarian candidate for Arapahoe County Sheriff in 2018, receiving 5.3 percent of the vote.[3] In 2022 he was the Libertarian candidate for Colorado's 6th Congressional District, finishing third with 2.0 percent behind Rep. Jason Crow and Steve Monahan.[3] In 2024 he ran for Colorado House District 36 as a Forward Party candidate and lost to Democrat Michael Carter, 71.5 percent to 28.5 percent.[3]

Mulder is on the November 3, 2026, ballot for governor as the Libertarian nominee, with Wayne Harlos as his running mate for lieutenant governor.[1][2][3] In his Ballotpedia survey he named three campaign messages: a one-year emergency state sales tax holiday that would let qualifying counties keep the 2.9 percent they usually remit to the state, stricter requirements for agencies seeking private surveillance camera footage, and a mix of energy sources including small modular reactors, natural gas, wind, solar and geothermal.[3]
