Biography

Erik Underwood is the Approval Voting Party's nominee for governor, on a joint ticket with Frank Atwood. A technology entrepreneur who says he spent eight years suing Bank of America in federal court, he is running on a child care program funded by a per-purchase charge, universal health care and ending the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights (TABOR).[1][2][3][4]

Basic profile — the most important sourced facts we found.

Underwood says he grew up in housing projects, raised by a single mother, and that he worked in the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C.[3] He also says he was a student junior prosecutor in the Atlanta City Solicitor's Office for five months.[3]

His campaign biography describes eight years of federal court litigation against Bank of America Corporation across multiple circuits.[3] He is chairman of Illmatic Ventures and chief executive of My24HourNews.com and Vurbil.[3]

Underwood sought the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in Colorado in 2020 but was disqualified from the primary ballot.[4] In 2026 he is on the general-election ballot as the Approval Voting Party nominee for governor and did not appear on the June 30 Democratic primary ballot.[1][4] His campaign site lists a child care program funded by a 25-cent charge on each purchase, a plan for universal health care in Colorado, affordable home loans with a maximum of $2,500 down, and free college and trade school.[2]
