Biography
Steve Simon is the incumbent DFL Secretary of State of Minnesota, seeking a fourth term. A former state representative who chaired the House elections committee, he has overseen Minnesota's elections since 2015 and has opposed a Justice Department demand for the state's voter registration data.[1][2]
Simon lives in Hopkins.[1] He served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2014, including as chair of its Elections Committee, before becoming secretary of state in January 2015.[1][2]
According to his candidate questionnaire, Simon wrote the law allowing eligible Minnesotans to vote from home.[1] KAXE's editor's note says Minnesota ranked first in MIT's Elections Performance Index for 2024.[1]
