Basic profile — the most important sourced facts we found.

Simon lives in Hopkins.[1] He served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2014, including as chair of its Elections Committee, before becoming secretary of state in January 2015.[1][2]

According to his candidate questionnaire, Simon wrote the law allowing eligible Minnesotans to vote from home.[1] KAXE's editor's note says Minnesota ranked first in MIT's Elections Performance Index for 2024.[1]

Priorities

  • Defending the freedom to vote: pushing back on federal interference, protecting voters' private information from the Justice Department, and defending same-day registration and voting from home.[5]
  • Supporting Minnesota's current requirement that people registering show who they are and where they live, using a broad list of accepted documents rather than only government-issued photo ID.[5]
