Biography

LaShonda Holloway is the Democratic nominee for Florida's 4th Congressional District, her third consecutive general-election race against Aaron Bean. A Jacksonville native with a J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law, WJCT describes her as a Florida Supreme Court arbitrator. She first appeared on a congressional ballot in 2016.[1][2][3]

Holloway was born in Florida, and WJCT describes her as a fourth-generation Jacksonville native.[2][3] She graduated from Edward Waters College in 1997 and later earned a J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law.[2] WJCT describes her as a Florida Supreme Court arbitrator.[3]

Holloway ran in the Democratic primary for Florida's 5th District in 2016, as L.J. Holloway with 13.4%, and in 2020 with 18.3%, losing both to Al Lawson.[2] In 2022 she narrowly won the Democratic primary for the 4th District over Anthony Hill, 50.2% to 49.8%, then lost the general election to Aaron Bean, 39.5% to 60.5%.[2] She was the Democratic nominee again in 2024, when the primary was canceled, and lost to Bean, 42.7% to 57.3%.[2]

Holloway won the August 18, 2026 Democratic primary with 57.3% against Michael Kirwan and Brittney Robinson, and WJCT reports she has the endorsement of civil rights attorney Ben Crump.[2][3]
