Biography
Keith Faber is the Republican nominee. He is the current Ohio Auditor of State, a former president of the Ohio Senate (2013-2017) and a former member of the Ohio House, and an attorney from Celina. His campaign highlights his auditor's office's criminal investigations of public officials, and he says he would create an Attorney General's division of health-insurance lawyers to help consumers with denied claims.[1][2][3][4]
Keith Faber earned a bachelor's degree in public administration and policy from Oakland University in 1988 and a law degree from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1991.[1] He founded Faber and Associates, a civil litigation and mediation firm in Celina, Ohio.[1] His campaign website says he lives in Celina with his wife Andrea and their two children.[2]
Faber served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2001 to 2006 and in the Ohio Senate from 2007 to 2016, including as Senate president from 2013 to 2017.[1] He returned to the Ohio House for 2017 to 2018.[1] His campaign website says that as Senate president he championed fiscal responsibility by reducing state spending, cutting taxes and increasing government transparency.[2]
Faber was first elected Ohio Auditor of State on November 6, 2018, and took office on January 11, 2019; his campaign website calls him Ohio's 33rd Auditor of State.[1][2]
