Dr. Michael Addison is the United Citizens Party nominee for governor of South Carolina, running with Candace Brewer, and was the Democratic candidate for the 6th Congressional District in 2022. Basic profile — the most important sourced facts we found.

Addison's professional experience, as WCSC described it, includes a medical practice, which he says gave him insight into problems in the health care industry.[3] He told the station he has chaired the South Carolina NAACP's environmental committee for several years.[3] Before this campaign he was the Democratic candidate for South Carolina's 6th Congressional District in 2022.[1]

Addison describes the United Citizens Party as a way to get citizens participating in a nonpartisan way rather than as Democrats or Republicans.[3] His platform would eliminate the state income tax while raising the state sales tax by 3%, end the sales-tax exemption for corporations, and raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour.[3] He also proposes a "Palmetto Public Option" that would expand access to telehealth services, and a data center task force and a separate artificial intelligence task force.[3]
