Biography
Vincent Collis is the Democratic candidate for Iowa House of Representatives District 61 in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against independent Lucas Hewitt.[1][3] A software engineer and farmer in Waterloo, he advanced from the Democratic primary on June 2, 2026.[1][2]
Vincent Collis graduated from Teaneck High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University in 2010; his career experience includes working as a software engineer.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he was born and raised in New York City by a public school teacher, studied Public Relations and Journalism at Seton Hall, and is pursuing a master's degree in Computer Engineering and Cyber Security at Iowa State University.[2] He said he has spent the last decade building tools that help Democratic candidates connect with voters, and that he and his wife, Kristina Cook-Collis, settled in her hometown of Waterloo, where he joined his father-in-law in running the family farm.[2]
Collis's survey answers listed three priorities: keeping rural hospitals open and expanding mental health services, working with family farmers to protect Iowa's water, and fully funding public schools.[2]
