Biography
Tonya Hudson is the Libertarian nominee for Indiana's 9th Congressional District, a real estate broker born in Indianapolis who has run in prior elections on reducing taxes and government regulation.[1]
Hudson was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduated from John Marshall High School. Earlier in life, she recalls working as a health aide in the Brown County High School nurse's office around 2001.[1][2] She works as a real estate broker in southern Indiana; her Ballotpedia profile lists affiliations with the Lions Club and the Indiana Association of Realtors, and the Indiana Capital Chronicle's voter guide says she lives in Mitchell.[1][2][3]
Hudson ran as the Libertarian candidate for Indiana's 9th Congressional District in 2022, finishing third with 2.8% of the vote (6,374 votes) in the race won by Erin Houchin.[1] In 2024 she was the Libertarian candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Indiana, selected at the party's state convention over Tommy Brown III; she won 4.5% (129,781 votes), and Micah Beckwith (R) won the office.[1] The Indiana Capital Chronicle's guide says she has made two unsuccessful bids for the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as one for lieutenant governor. She advanced from the Libertarian convention for the 9th District on March 22, 2026.[1][3]
