Biography
Floyd Taylor is an independent write-in candidate for Indiana's 9th Congressional District, a local business owner and cancer survivor, according to his Ballotpedia Candidate Connection survey. A technologist from Hardinsburg, he is running on a constituent-facing app for weighing in on legislation and says he takes no PAC or party money.[1][3]
Taylor describes himself in his Ballotpedia Candidate Connection survey as a Hoosier, husband, and local business owner, and as a network architect with more than 25 years of experience securing critical infrastructure for institutions including Jefferson Public Radio, Fort Knox, Purdue University, and the U.S. Census Bureau. Ballotpedia lists his career experience as working as a computer engineer.[1][2] A July 2025 campaign press release from Hardinsburg, Indiana, describes him as a technologist whose background includes launching Jeffnet, one of Oregon's earliest non-commercial internet providers, and decades of work in IT infrastructure.[3]
Taylor says he built the Congress App (thecongressapp.com), which he describes as publishing bills in plain language with fiscal breakdowns and letting verified district constituents weigh in.[1] According to the press release, he filed with the Federal Election Commission in July 2025 as an independent, unaffiliated with any political party or PAC; he says he takes no PAC or party money.[1][3] He is running as a write-in independent in the November 3, 2026 general election, and Ballotpedia lists no prior candidacies for him.[2]
