Tia LeBrun is a teacher and curriculum leader from Sulphur and a member of the United Houma Nation, running as a candidate with no party affiliation for Louisiana's 3rd Congressional District.[2][3] She ran for the same seat as a Democrat in 2022 and is campaigning on education access, healthcare affordability and insurance reform.[1][2]

LeBrun was born and raised in Terrebonne Parish as a member of the United Houma Nation, and her campaign website describes her as the daughter of three generations of working-class service-industry workers.[1][2] She earned a bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University in 2004 and a graduate degree from the University of New Orleans in 2012.[1] Her campaign website says she had her first child before studying at LSU and later worked two jobs while teaching.[2]

LeBrun works as an educator and administrator.[1][2] According to her campaign website, she was named Teacher of the Year at Lake Charles Boston High School in 2007, was honored as Louisiana Public Broadcasting's American Graduate in 2015, and was named Teacher of the Year by the Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers' Association in 2016.[2] The same site says she belonged to that association from 2005 to 2017, has served on the Louisiana Consortium of Immersion Schools board since 2016, and has served on the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana board since 2019.[2][3]

She ran for this seat as a Democrat in the November 8, 2022 all-party primary, receiving 21,172 votes (9.4 percent), and Clay Higgins won outright.[1] Her campaign website says she and her husband share six children and that she has four grandchildren.[2]
