According to his Ballotpedia Candidate Connection survey, he is a scholar and former college professor who later worked as a cultural advisor to U.S. government agencies. He says he is running on restoring national independence, reducing federal spending and taxation, and reforming immigration policy.[1][2]

Demirci Lopez describes himself as a U.S. citizen raised in a multicultural family who studied Spanish language and literature.[2] According to his survey, he earned a master's degree in Religions and Cultures and a doctorate in Theology from the University of Murcia in Spain, which led to a career as a scholar and college professor.[1][2] He says he later left academia to work as a cultural advisor supporting several U.S. government agencies.[1][2] He says he joined the Libertarian Party because he believes the two-party system has failed to represent Americans.[2]
