Biography
Steven St John is a no-party candidate for Nevada's 1st Congressional District. A hospital chaplain in Las Vegas for nearly a decade, he previously worked in advertising, marketing and business development and was a candidate in the 2014 election for another Nevada House seat. He says he is running on healthcare, housing and cost-of-living issues and on working across party lines.[1][2]
St John earned a high school diploma from New Trier High School and a master's degree from San Diego State University, which Ballotpedia's education listing dates to 1976.[1] In his Ballotpedia survey he says he was self-employed as a young man, refinishing fences and doing home improvement work for neighbors, and that he experienced homelessness for several months in the early 1980s.[1]
Ballotpedia reports that he worked in advertising, marketing and business development and as a chaplain. In his 2026 survey he describes about a decade as a hospital chaplain in Las Vegas and says he served as a chaplain under Mayor Goodman's faith initiative, ministering to people experiencing homelessness.[1] St John appeared on the November 2014 general-election ballot in Nevada's 3rd Congressional District as an independent, in a race won by incumbent Joe Heck over Erin Bilbray; the Nevada Independent notes that he ran in that district in 2014.[1][2]
In his Ballotpedia survey St John says he is not a career politician and that his campaign is built on listening, trust and working together.[1]
