Biography
Shelley Aloi is the Republican candidate for Maryland State Senate District 3 in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against incumbent Karen Lewis Young (D).[1][3] A former Frederick City alderman, she says her background includes work in education, research, banking and government.[2]
In a Ballotpedia survey, Aloi said she was raised and built her career in Frederick.[2] She listed experience as a Frederick City alderman; vice chair of the Washington Area Council of Governments Chesapeake Bay and Water Resources Policy Committee; a banking compliance analyst; a public school teacher and university instructor; a nine-year board member of Beyond Shelter; and executive director of the Marriage Resource Center of Frederick County.[2] Ballotpedia also lists her as a 2014 candidate for lieutenant governor of Maryland who intended to share the Republican ticket with gubernatorial candidate Ron George, who lost the June 24, 2014 primary.[1]
Aloi's listed campaign messages include opposing new taxes and fees on working families, pursuing a state budget that lives within its means, and seeking limits on data centers' energy use, water use, noise and pollution.[2]
