Biography

Michael Bouchard is the Republican nominee for Michigan's 10th District and a U.S. Army and Michigan National Guard veteran who has not previously held public office. Raised in Michigan and the son of the Oakland County sheriff, he is running on manufacturing jobs, border security and 'back to basics' education.[1][2][3]

Bouchard was born in Michigan. His campaign website describes him as a third-generation Michigander and the son of Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard.[1][2] He graduated from Michigan State University's ROTC program.[1][2] Bouchard served in the U.S. Army and the Michigan National Guard. His campaign website says he served in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, including missions to the southern border and Iraq.[1][2][3]

According to his campaign website, Bouchard was chief operations officer for a 1,200-soldier infantry battalion in the Michigan Army National Guard and later a member of a joint task force in the fight against ISIS, for which he received the Bronze Star.[2][3] He says he led missions on the southern border during the first Trump administration.[3] Fox News describes him as a political newcomer who has not held office before. He won the Republican primary on August 4, 2026, after an endorsement from President Donald Trump.[3][1]
