Biography
Joseph Redmon is the Republican candidate for Kentucky House of Representatives District 27 in the November 3, 2026 general election, after winning the May 19 Republican primary with 43.0% of the vote.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, he described himself as a retired soldier who worked for six years in Kabul and six years as executive director of the Transit Authority of Central Kentucky.[2]
Redmon said in a Ballotpedia survey that he has been married for 43 years, has two children and three grandchildren, and has lived in Meade County for more than 29 years.[2] He said he holds bachelor's and master's degrees in political science and government from the University of Louisville.[2] Redmon defeated Rachelle Frazier, Paul Smith and Sandra Carter in the 2026 Republican primary; no incumbent sought the seat.[1]
In the same survey, Redmon listed three campaign messages: opposition to abortion, support for what he called an opportunity economy, and a goal of shrinking state government.[2] He named affordable housing and supporting families as his policy interests, and listed Kentucky Right to Life, the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Freedom's Heritage Forum as endorsers.[2]
