Biography
Vega is a South Bronx political organizer affiliated with the LaRouche movement who ran unsuccessfully in the 2026 Democratic primary and appears on the general-election ballot on the Speak The Truth Party line. His platform centers on Medicare for All, reindustrializing the Bronx, immigration reform, and ending U.S. involvement in foreign wars.[1][2][3]
Jose Vega was born in New York City in 1998 and raised in the South Bronx, according to his campaign website.[2] Ballotpedia lists him as having attended Bronx Community College and worked as a barista.[3] He says he has worked with the LaRouche movement since age 16, helping organize concerts, youth choruses, and science programs for teenagers, and Ballotpedia lists his affiliations with the Schiller Institute and the LaRouche Organization.[2][3]
Vega ran for NY-15 in 2024 on the LaRouche Party line and received 2.4% of the vote; his campaign describes that run as an independent candidacy.[1][2] In April 2026 he took part in a virtual debate with Michael Blake hosted by OneNYC Action, which the Bronx Times described as featuring Vega, a political activist who identifies as a LaRouchite.[4] He finished third in the June 23, 2026 Democratic primary with 5.7%, behind Torres and Blake, and is on the November ballot on the Speak The Truth Party line.[1][3]
