Biography

Jordan Herrera is the Democratic nominee for Missouri's 4th District. A nearly 16-year U.S. Air Force veteran who later served as a Missouri Assistant Attorney General, he has not held public office; he is campaigning on lowering costs, healthcare, veterans' issues and national security.[1][2][3]

Herrera was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and graduated from Sidney High School; in his Ballotpedia survey, he describes growing up amid instability and violence.[2] He served in the U.S. Air Force from 2006 to 2022, joining at nineteen according to his Ballotpedia survey, and Ballotpedia lists Air Force awards in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021.[2] He describes leading healthcare teams across eight states during the COVID-19 pandemic and deploying overseas during his service.[2] Herrera earned an associate degree from Air University (2008), a bachelor's degree from Park University (2020), and a law degree from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles (2024); according to his campaign website, he earned the J.D. in two years after leaving military service.[2][4]

After leaving the Air Force, Herrera served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri.[2][3] He originally filed to challenge Rep. Emanuel Cleaver in the 5th District Democratic primary, then ran in the 4th District after Missouri Republicans redrew the maps; KCUR reports he won about 30% in a crowded seven-person Democratic primary in August 2026.[3] Ballotpedia lists his affiliations as including Indivisible KC, Respect MO Voters, Boots to Business and the Veteran Treatment Courts in Johnson and Jackson counties.[2]
