Biography
Jeff McLaughlin is the Democratic nominee for Alabama attorney general, a Guntersville lawyer and former member of the Alabama House of Representatives.[1][2] The Alabama Reflector reports he made his name fighting for campaign finance reform and refusing to take campaign contributions, has little online presence, and had reported no fundraising or spending this year as of July 31.[1]
McLaughlin was born in Decatur and raised in Guntersville. According to his campaign, he was a schoolteacher before becoming a lawyer, and he graduated from Birmingham-Southern College and Harvard Law School.[2]
He has practiced law in Guntersville for more than thirty years, according to his campaign.[2] McLaughlin represented Marshall County in the Alabama House of Representatives for ten years, and his campaign says he never accepted a campaign contribution there.[2][1]
