Biography
Jason Tunney is the Republican candidate for Michigan State Senate District 35 in the November 3, 2026 general election, in which he faces Democratic incumbent Chedrick Greene.[1][2] A Saginaw attorney and former Saginaw County prosecutor, he lost the May 5, 2026 special general election for the same seat to Greene.[1][3]
Tunney won the February 3, 2026 special Republican primary for District 35 over Christian Velasquez, Chadwick Twillman and Andrew Wendt, then lost the May 5 special general election to Greene; Libertarian Ali Sledz also appeared on that ballot.[1]
In a Ballotpedia survey, Tunney described himself as a lifelong Saginaw resident, a practicing lawyer and former prosecutor who handled felony cases in Saginaw County, and a worker of more than 20 years at Duro-Last.[3] He said he supports lowering Michigan's income tax rate from 4.25 percent to 4 percent and listed education, public safety, reducing regulation and lower taxes as policy priorities.[3]
