Biography
Dane Scalise is the Republican candidate for North Carolina House of Representatives District 20 in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against Democrat Tim Merrick for a seat whose incumbent, Ted Davis Jr. (R), is not seeking re-election. Scalise is an attorney, insurance broker, small business owner and member of the New Hanover County Commission.[1][2]
Scalise advanced from the Republican primary on March 3, 2026, which was canceled.[1] Ballotpedia quotes his campaign website as saying that, as a county commissioner, he has worked on affordability, accountability and accessibility, that he opposed developments that would damage local neighborhoods, and that he supports long-term economic growth.[2]
