Biography
Craig Swartz is an independent candidate for Ohio House of Representatives District 87 in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2] A Realtor, Swartz said in a Ballotpedia survey that he is political director of the Ohio Public Banking Coalition and is campaigning for a state public bank modeled on the Bank of North Dakota.[2][3]
Craig Swartz was born in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, graduated from Midpark High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University in 1980.[2] He also studied at Schiller International University, and his career experience includes work as an international legal assistant and advisor, restaurant owner, writer, factory worker, insurance agent and Realtor.[2]
Swartz ran in the 2024 general election for District 87.[2] In his survey he said he had run for office several times before as a Democrat and chose to run as an independent this time.[3] He listed a Bank of Ohio to fund affordable housing and childcare as his main proposal, and also called for full funding of public education and dismantling JobsOhio.[3]
