Biography
Chris Henry, also known as Kit, is the Pacific Green Party and Progressive Party nominee for U.S. Senate in Oregon. A community advocate who has worked as a union truck driver and aircraft mechanic, he has run for statewide and county office several times, including for Oregon treasurer in 2016 and 2020. Little other biographical detail is public.[1]
Henry says in his Ballotpedia survey that he was the ninth of twelve children and that his grandfather, Kevin McCann, was President Eisenhower's speechwriter.[1] He graduated from the UAW Trade School in 1985, and his career experience includes work as a union truck driver, aircraft mechanic and community advocate. He has been affiliated with Honest Elections Oregon.[1]
Henry ran for Oregon treasurer as a Pacific Green and Progressive candidate in 2016, and again in 2020, when he received 4.4% (99,870 votes) in the general election won by incumbent Tobias Read.[1] In 2024 he ran in the May 21 nonpartisan primary for Multnomah County Commission District 1 but did not advance; Meghan Moyer and Vadim Mozyrsky advanced to the general election.[1]
