Biography
Bryan McCarty of Worland is the Democratic nominee for Secretary of State. He describes a private-sector career, mostly in the railroad industry, with internal audit and Six Sigma training, and says he would use the office's seat on the State Board of Land Commissioners to keep public lands in public hands.[1][2]
Bryan McCarty was born in Mansfield, Ohio, and now lives in Worland, where he has lived for six years and in Wyoming for seven.[1] He says he has had strong ties to Wyoming since childhood.[1]
McCarty describes a private-sector career mostly in the railroad industry, largely with large corporations, and cites training in internal audit and Six Sigma in a regulatory-compliance culture.[1] He advanced from the August 18, 2026 Democratic primary with 97.3 percent of the vote.[2]
McCarty says the Secretary of State's role is to administer existing election rules rather than advocate changes, which he says would be a conflict of interest, and that he would use his internal audit experience to vet business registrations.[1]
