On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Governor of Alaska

Biography

Bernadette Wilson is an Anchorage business owner who has not held elected office. She owns the trash-collection company Denali Disposal, previously directed the Alaska chapter of Americans for Prosperity, and has worked on more than a dozen political campaigns. She advocates restoring the statutory Permanent Fund dividend and has criticized relying on bipartisan legislative coalitions.[1][2][3]

Wilson was born on the Kenai Peninsula and raised in Anchorage, and she is the great-niece of former Gov. Wally Hickel.[1] She owns Denali Disposal, an Anchorage trash-collection company that, according to her campaign website, she launched in 2016.[1][4]

Wilson hosted a talk-radio show until 2015, and she has worked as Alaska director of Americans for Prosperity and for the Alaska Policy Forum.[1] She has worked on more than a dozen campaigns, including Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson's and a 2010 ballot measure requiring parental notification of a minor's abortion, and she advised Rep. Nick Begich's 2024 campaign. As of May 2025 she was campaigning for a ballot measure to repeal ranked-choice voting.[1]
