Biography

Anthony DiLorenzo is the Republican nominee for New Hampshire's open 1st Congressional District and a first-time candidate for public office. He is the founder of Key Auto Group, a chain of car dealerships and collision centers, and a real estate developer based in Portsmouth. He is running as a political outsider with a focus on energy costs and affordability, and has the endorsement of President Donald Trump.[1][2][3]

DiLorenzo says he was raised in a working-class family and got his first job delivering newspapers at age eight, and according to an interview in The Dartmouth he has lived in New Hampshire for 43 years.[3] He says he attended the University of New Hampshire, dropped out, and started his own business with $7,000.[3]

DiLorenzo founded Key Auto Group, which The Dartmouth reports operates 21 car dealerships and 12 collision centers in nine states and which New Hampshire Public Radio describes as employing more than 1,000 people.[3][2][1] He is also a real estate developer who has been involved in hotel development, owns Planet Fitness franchises, and was the winning bidder for redevelopment of the McIntyre building in downtown Portsmouth, where he lives.[2][4] He gave $4 million to the University of New Hampshire in 2023, according to New Hampshire Public Radio.[4]

DiLorenzo is a first-time candidate who has not previously held public office, and President Donald Trump endorsed him in July 2026.[3][2] He won the September 8, 2026 Republican primary, defeating Hollie Noveletsky, Brian Cole, Melissa Bailey and Lindsey Anderson.[1]
