Amanda Pusczek

DCandidate

On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: U.S. House · Alabama's 4th Congressional District

Biography

Amanda Pusczek is a registered nurse and the Democratic nominee for Alabama's 4th Congressional District. According to her campaign website, she was born in Missouri, grew up in Alabama, and has more than a decade of clinical nursing experience, including psychiatric nursing. She has not previously held elected office and describes herself as a nurse rather than a career politician, running on health care and cost-of-living issues.[1][2][3]

According to her campaign website, Pusczek was born in 1990 in Ferguson, Missouri, and moved to Alabama with her mother at age six, with a few years spent in Wiesbaden, Germany. She told a Walker County Democratic meeting in January 2026 that she was born in Missouri in 1990; her Ballotpedia survey profile lists Alabama as her birthplace.[2][3][1] She graduated from public school with an Advanced Diploma in 2008, then earned an Associate Degree in Nursing at John C. Calhoun Community College, which Ballotpedia lists as 2014, and a bachelor's degree from Western Governors University in 2022.[2][1]

Pusczek works as a nurse with more than a decade of clinical experience and a stated interest in psychiatric nursing and mental health advocacy. Her campaign website says she traveled to New York City during the COVID-19 outbreak while completing her bachelor's degree in nursing, and she told the Walker County meeting that her work has included hospitals, prisons and schools.[2][3][1] She married her husband in 2022. Her campaign website says Alabama's health-care and reproductive-rights restrictions affected the couple's family plans, and the Mountain Eagle reports that this and the 2024 election contributed to her decision to run.[2][3]

Pusczek has no prior campaigns or offices listed on Ballotpedia. She won the May 19, 2026 Democratic primary for the 4th District, defeating Shane Weaver, 62.8% to 37.2%.[1] She is affiliated with the American Nurses Association, 50501, the Madison County Democratic Party, Alabama Young Democrats, and Indivisible 5th District North Alabama.[1]
