Governor of Pennsylvania
Statewide — all of Pennsylvania
General election · Tuesday, November 3, 2026

- Incumbent Democrat Josh Shapiro is seeking a second term. Shapiro and Republican state Treasurer Stacy Garrity each won their party's May 19, 2026 primary unopposed.[1]
- Lieutenant governor nominees are chosen separately in the primaries and run jointly with the governor in the general election: Austin Davis (D) with Shapiro, and Jason Richey (R), who won the Republican primary over John Ventre 65.6% to 34.4%, with Garrity. The Libertarian Party nominated Ken Krawchuk for governor and John Thomas for lieutenant governor.[1][8][10][11]
- Green Party candidates Tony Dastra and Craig Bolton were ruled off the general-election ballot by a Commonwealth Court judge because Dastra did not have enough valid signatures; Dastra said he plans to campaign as a write-in. Spotlight PA reports that Libertarian Ken Krawchuk is the only third-party candidate for governor on the ballot, and Adams County's official November 3 ballot lists only the Shapiro, Garrity and Krawchuk tickets for governor.[1][9][8][11]

Issue evidence — side by side
Recorded votes, documented positions and candidates’ own words are shown with sources. “In their own words” quotes a candidate on the topic without inferring a stance. Votes describe specific bills or motions; they do not establish overall support or opposition to a broad issue. A dash means our research has no evidence on that topic, not that the candidate has no position.

Research notes & limits
Ballotpedia blocked automated access during research. The Pennsylvania Department of State's certified candidate list could not be retrieved (Incapsula block, not bypassed). The slate is confirmed by the official general-election ballot published by Adams County's Board of Elections (Shapiro/Davis, Garrity/Richey, Krawchuk/Thomas; no Green ticket) and by independent reporting: Spotlight PA (Shapiro, Garrity and Krawchuk are the candidates on the ballot; Krawchuk is the only third-party candidate), LNP (Commonwealth Court removal of the Green ticket) and the Green Papers, with Wikipedia for primary results. Running mates Austin Davis (D), Jason Richey (R) and John Thomas (L) are elected jointly and are listed in ballotNote, not as separate entries. Shapiro, Garrity and Krawchuk are 'basic'. Shapiro's pa.gov bill-signing releases for individual bills were not used. Garrity's Treasury figures are Treasury's own reports for calendar 2025 and carry no specific date. Krawchuk is now 'basic': positions and statements come from the issue pages of his campaign website (kenk4pa.com); no minimum-wage, immigration or other positions were found there.
