Secretary of State of Nevada

Statewide — all of Nevada

General election · Tuesday, November 3, 2026

  • The race is a rematch: in 2022 Aguilar defeated Marchant 48.9% to 46.7%. Aguilar was unopposed in the Democratic primary; Marchant won a four-way Republican primary on June 9 with 32.6%, ahead of Shirley Folkins-Roberts (30.6%), Sharron Angle (26.2%) and Socorro Keenan (3.4%).[1][6]
  • Voters will also decide Question 7, a constitutional amendment requiring voter ID that voters first approved in 2024 with about 73%.[5][2]
  • Clark County's official Nov. 3, 2026 contest and candidate list (Aug. 24, 2026) shows four candidates for Secretary of State: Francisco "Cisco" Aguilar (Democratic), Brad Lee Barnhill (Independent American), John T. Kennedy (Libertarian) and Jim Marchant (Republican).[7]

Issue evidence — side by side

Recorded votes, documented positions and candidates’ own words are shown with sources. “In their own words” quotes a candidate on the topic without inferring a stance. Votes describe specific bills or motions; they do not establish overall support or opposition to a broad issue. A dash means our research has no evidence on that topic, not that the candidate has no position.

Research notes & limits

Slate: confirmed against Clark County's official general-election contest list (the Secretary of State's site blocks automated access), including John T. Kennedy (Libertarian), for whom no Ballotpedia page, website or coverage was found. Aguilar's record rests on his campaign site's description of his office's work, because the Secretary of State's website blocked automated access; Marchant's position on proof of citizenship is from his campaign site. A News 4 report says Marchant was involved in the 2020 'fake elector' plan; KTNV and the Nevada Current report that he attended the December 2020 signing but was not one of the six electors, and that the six electors are the ones charged. No charge against Marchant was found, so none is stated here.
