Biography

Stephen Villee, a software developer from Hampton, is the Libertarian candidate for governor of New Hampshire and was the party's nominee in 2024. His campaign calls for approval voting, legal adult cannabis, "Defend the Guard" legislation and medical use of psilocybin.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Basic profile — the most important sourced facts we found.

Villee works as a software developer and has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Harvard University.[6] He lives in Hampton, New Hampshire, and is not currently serving in a New Hampshire office.[6]

Villee's campaign website says he probably will not win as a third-party candidate and proposes that libertarians from around the country move to New Hampshire until they make up enough of the electorate to win a plurality.[5] His stated legislative priorities are adopting approval voting, fully legalizing cannabis for adults, passing legislation that would require a congressional declaration of war before the New Hampshire National Guard could be activated, and legalizing medical psilocybin for post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorder and treatment-resistant depression.[5]
