Yassin Moghazy

Yassin Moghazy is the Republican candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives, District 97, in the November 3, 2026 general election, against Democrat Jyot Singh in a race with no incumbent.[1][2] In a Ballotpedia survey, Moghazy described himself as an information technology professional and Gwinnett County resident.[3]

In a Ballotpedia survey, Yassin Moghazy said he was born in Cairo, Egypt, to an American mother and an Egyptian father who met while working at the U.S. Embassy, moved to the United States at age eight and grew up in Gwinnett County, where he attended local schools including Parkview High School before beginning a career in information technology.[3] He said he lives in Gwinnett with his wife, Anastashia, and that they are expecting their first child.[3]

Moghazy said in the survey that he is running on the cost of living, online safety for children, strong public safety and responsible tax policy.[3] He said he supports reforms that limit large assessment-driven property tax increases, continued reductions in Georgia's income tax when growth and surpluses allow, and policies requiring high-consumption facilities such as AI data centers to pay rates reflecting their full energy demand or provide their own generation capacity.[3] He also said he supports restricting open public chat features in games designed for minors and giving parents stronger tools to control who can contact their children online.[3]
