Biography
Will Dreher is a Democratic candidate for the Washington House of Representatives, District 46-Position 1, facing Democratic incumbent Gerry Pollet in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, his campaign described him as a former federal prosecutor, former clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan and former public school teacher who is now a litigator.[2]
According to Dreher's Ballotpedia survey response, he grew up in a middle-class family with an environmental lawyer father and a nurse mother, attended diverse public schools, and began his career with union-affiliated voter contact organizations.[2] The response says he taught fourth grade at a public elementary school and, after law school, litigated clean energy and environmental cases.[2] It says he moved to Seattle in 2019 to work as a federal prosecutor, spent three years prosecuting January 6 defendants, and then served as the office's Civil Rights Coordinator.[2] According to the response, he left the federal government in 2024 and has since sued corporations including oil, tobacco, utility and AI companies.[2]
Dreher said his top priorities include regulating big technology and artificial intelligence, including regulating or stopping new data centers, and improving public school performance through literacy and math interventions.[2] He also listed climate change, housing supply and affordability, affordable childcare and public safety among his policy interests, and named endorsers including Seattle City Attorney Erika Evans and former U.S. Attorney Tessa Gorman.[2]
