Biography
Virginia McIntyre is a Monroe County legislator from Gates and the Republican and Conservative nominee in NY-25, challenging Rep. Joseph Morelle. Her Ballotpedia survey describes a background as an educator, entrepreneur, international language professor and interpreter before she joined the county legislature in 2024. She says her campaign is built on fiscal accountability, public safety and government transparency.[1][2][3][5]
McIntyre attended Gates Chili High School and earned an associate degree from Monroe Community College in 1998, a bachelor's degree from SUNY Purchase in 2001, and a bachelor's degree from the Conservatorio di Mantova in 2005. The Rochester Beacon describes her as a Gates native and trained opera singer whose career included a 20-year stint in Italy, and reports that she returned to her hometown in 2021 to care for her mother.[1][5] She lists her career experience as educator, entrepreneur, international language professor and interpreter.[1]
McIntyre has represented District 4 of the Monroe County Legislature, covering parts of Gates and Greece, since 2024. At its convention in February 2026, the Monroe County Republican Committee designated her for the NY-25 race, and she launched her campaign at the Susan B. Anthony House in Rochester. According to WHEC, she ran unopposed for the Republican nomination.[1][4][3][2] WXXI identifies her as a Gates resident.[2]
