Biography
Veronica Gonzalez is the Republican and Conservative Party nominee challenging incumbent Keith Powers for NY State Assembly District 74. She is a Lower East Side-raised community advocate, small-business owner and Republican district leader who has not previously held elected office.[1][2][3]
Gonzalez was born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and Our Town reports that she has lived in her Manhattan neighborhood for over two decades.[2][3] She describes herself as a community advocate, Republican district leader, small business owner and author, and Our Town describes her as running for office for the first time.[2][3]
Gonzalez says she has spent decades doing nonprofit-partnership and community-outreach work, including donating backpacks and school supplies and helping secure direct assistance for NYC families.[2] She also says she has assisted NYCHA tenants with apartment-repair backlog issues and has received the President's Volunteer Service Award and a Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.[2]
