On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: North Dakota House District 43

Biography

Tyler York is the Democratic candidate for the North Dakota House of Representatives, District 43, in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2] An instrument repair technician and professional horn player in Grand Forks, he says he is running on public schools, infrastructure, healthcare access and housing.[2][3]

Tyler York graduated from May-Port CG High School and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota in 2006.[2] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he has spent nearly two decades working at Popplers Music in Grand Forks, is a professional horn player with regional orchestras and youth music programs, and grew up in a lower-income household where public schools and music education shaped him.[3]

York advanced from the Democratic primary on June 9, 2026.[2] He said he is running because communities and schools are being asked to do more with less as costs rise, and he named strong public schools, reliable infrastructure, accessible healthcare, attainable housing and local communities as his priorities.[3]
