Biography

Tyler Bass is the Republican nominee in Minnesota's 3rd Congressional District, after winning the August 11, 2026 primary over Quentin Wittrock. A general contractor and small-business owner, he describes himself as running on stronger oversight to prevent government fraud and on prioritizing American workers.[1][2][3]

Tyler Bass grew up in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School.[2] He earned a bachelor's degree from Luther College in 2010, where, according to his Ballotpedia survey, he studied exercise science and played college football as a running back.[2] He says he struggled to find work after graduating during the 2011-2012 economic downturn and started a fitness website with his last $250.[2]

Bass lists general contractor as his profession, and MPR News describes him as a business owner; he says he lives in Minnetonka.[2][3] He won the August 11, 2026 Republican primary with 55.4% of the vote over Quentin Wittrock.[1]
