On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Alabama House District 7

Biography

Trent Ford is an independent candidate for the Alabama House of Representatives, District 7, in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against incumbent Republican Ernie Yarbrough and independent Angelo Mancuso.[1][2] An entrepreneur, he says his campaign focuses on energy costs, tax fairness, and regulation of data centers.[1][3]

Trent Ford graduated from Winfield City High School and earned a graduate degree from Jacksonville State University in 2021; his career experience includes working as an entrepreneur.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, he described himself as born and raised in Alabama, a Christian who volunteers on his church's tech team, and an entrepreneur who has worked jobs ranging from remodeling to government contracts to software design, and said he holds a master's degree in Computer Systems.[3]

In the same survey, Ford said high power bills were his first key message, and he said he supports expanding solar and nuclear power to increase supply.[3] He said he would ban nondisclosure agreements in data center approvals, require public disclosure before approval, and make data centers pay their own infrastructure costs.[3] He also said he favors ending the state grocery tax by closing Alabama's deduction for federal income taxes paid, and listed public education funding, rural hospital access, and occupational licensing reform among his policy interests.[3]
