Biography

Tom Kunse is the Republican state representative for Michigan House District 100, which he has held since January 1, 2023, and is seeking re-election in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][3] Ballotpedia lists his career experience as a truck driver and the owner of Northern Dry Bulk.[1]

Tom Kunse was born in Pontiac, Michigan, and graduated from Clare High School.[1] He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1994 and a master's degree in nuclear physics from Central Michigan University in 2012.[1] He has also served on the Grant Township Board.[1]

In a Ballotpedia survey, Kunse said small business owners understand that government should be small, local and transparent.[2] He listed lowering income and property taxes, requiring photo ID to vote, and repealing green energy mandates among his priorities, and said he authored legislation adding disclosure to legislatively directed spending requests.[2]
