Biography

Terri Yarbrough Green is the Democratic nominee for Arkansas's 1st Congressional District. A medical pathologist who moved to Northeast Arkansas in 1988 and recently retired, she has not held elected office before and says she decided to run because no other Democrat had filed. She is running on campaign finance reform and universal healthcare, and has also emphasized farm and fuel costs.[1][2][3]

Green was born in El Paso and adopted at birth, according to her campaign website, by a World War II Navy veteran and his wife; she describes herself as the daughter of a high school football coach and athletic director.[5][3][1] She graduated from Burges High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Baylor University in 1977, and also attended the University of Texas at Arlington. She received a medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.[1][3][5]

Green is a board-certified pathologist and laboratory medical director who, her campaign says, has served rural hospitals. She moved to Northeast Arkansas in 1988; her Ballotpedia profile calls her semi-retired, and Talk Business & Politics reported in 2026 that she had recently retired.[5][3][1][2] She has been active with the Greene County Democratic Party and has worked on voter registration, according to Talk Business & Politics, which lists her as a Democrat from Paragould.[2][4] Green is running for office for the first time. The Democratic primary was canceled, and she advanced to the general election without appearing on the ballot.[1][2]
