Biography

Terrance Freeman is the Republican candidate for the Florida House of Representatives, District 12, in the November 3, 2026 general election, in a race with no incumbent against Democrat Benjamin Sandlin.[1][2] Freeman served on the Jacksonville City Council, representing At-large Position 1, from July 1, 2019, until August 31, 2026.[1]

Freeman first ran for the Florida House in 2016, when he was among the candidates defeated by Clay Yarborough in the Republican primary for District 12.[1] He advanced to a runoff for Jacksonville City Council At-large Position 1 in March 2019 and defeated Lisa King in the May 14, 2019 runoff, 53.8% to 46.2%.[1] Freeman won re-election to the council on March 21, 2023, defeating Libertarian Eric Parker, 65.1% to 34.9%.[1]

In a 2019 Ballotpedia survey, Freeman said his father was an Army veteran and Baptist minister and his mother a career social worker, and that his career had been as a coach, an educator and school principal, and a Jacksonville City Councilman.[3] He listed his top priorities as continuing the city's economic prosperity and developing downtown, building educational opportunities for youth, and ensuring families feel safe in their neighborhoods.[3]
