Biography

Teresa Woorman is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates from District 16 who has served since August 12, 2024, and is seeking re-election in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2]

Woorman earned a high school diploma from Northwest High School, an associate degree from Montgomery College in 2012, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland in 2015.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, she said she immigrated to the United States from Puebla, Mexico, as a child, grew up in Montgomery County Public Schools, and worked for nearly a decade in the Maryland General Assembly before being appointed to the House of Delegates in 2024.[3] She succeeded Sara Love in the seat.[1]

In the survey, Woorman said she serves as Deputy Majority Whip and as a member of the House Health Committee, and that she has passed legislation on insurance coverage denials, higher-education access for immigrant students and probate system modernization.[3] She named healthcare, immigration, education and protecting democratic institutions as the policy areas she is most passionate about.[3]
