Biography

Susan Schmid is the Democratic candidate for the Wyoming House of Representatives, District 48, in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2] She advanced from the Democratic primary on August 18, 2026.[2] Schmid is a community organizer.[2][3]

Susan Schmid earned a high school diploma from Rock Springs High School and an associate degree from Western Wyoming Community College in 2017.[2] In a Ballotpedia survey, she described herself as a lifelong Wyomingite whose jobs have included barista, communications intern, debate coach, property management, marketing and communications director, and community organizer, and said her work as a youth care worker taught her to listen first.[3]

Schmid listed affordability, accessibility and accountability as her campaign messages.[3] She said affordability means housing, health care and wages that keep up with the cost of living, and she said she supports eliminating tipping as a substitute for wages.[3] She said accessibility includes public lands, access to specialists and access to the full spectrum of reproductive health care, including abortion, and that legislators should strengthen public schools rather than subsidize private school tuition.[3]
