Steve McClure is a Republican member of the Illinois State Senate representing District 54 who has served since 2019 and is seeking re-election on November 3, 2026.[1][2] He is an attorney who previously worked as an assistant state's attorney in Sangamon County.[1]
McClure was born in Springfield, Illinois, and graduated from Springfield High School.[1] He earned a B.A. in history and political science from Arizona State University in 2006, an M.A. in political studies from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2008, and a J.D. from Valparaiso University in 2011.[1] His career experience includes working as an assistant state's attorney with the Sangamon County State's Attorney's Office and as a summer law clerk with Londrigan, Potter, & Randle, P.C.[1]
