Steve Gunderson graduated from Libby High School and served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1978 to 1986.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he has lived in Libby since 1969 and was a citizen advocate for natural resource jobs for almost 20 years before running for the House.[2]

Gunderson's survey answers emphasize jobs, including rebuilding the local sawmill in Lincoln County and a return of mining.[2] He also said that property taxes should not force seniors out of their homes and that tax and assessment reform are necessary.[2]
