Stephen Woll

Stephen "Steve" Woll is an independent candidate for Virginia's 3rd District. According to his campaign website, he is a Navy veteran, scientist, and businessman who grew up in Pittsburgh and has lived in Hampton Roads for more than 25 years. He says he is running as a representative who answers to the district rather than to a party.[1]

According to his campaign website, Woll grew up in Pittsburgh and lived in several places before the Navy brought him to Hampton Roads more than 25 years ago.[1] He says he attended Officer Candidate School and served 21 years in the Navy as a Meteorology and Oceanography Officer, including aboard the USS Harry S. Truman on September 11, a deployment supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, and a final assignment commanding support operations for a dozen aircraft carriers and large-deck amphibious ships across the Atlantic Fleet.[1]

After leaving the Navy, Woll says, he worked in the private sector helping companies and clients use data, technology, and teamwork on operational problems, including public-private partnerships in Hampton Roads.[1] He adds that he has for several years worked with a veteran-inspired service organization focused on civic divides.[1]
