On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Texas House District 113

Biography

Stephen Stanley is the Republican candidate for Texas House of Representatives District 113 in the November 3, 2026 general election, facing Democrat Rhetta Andrews Bowers.[1][2] A real estate professional, he served on the Garland City Council from 2013 to 2017.[1]

Stanley was born in Dallas, Texas, graduated from South Garland High School, and earned an associate degree from Richland Community College in 1988.[1] His career experience is in real estate, and in a 2024 Ballotpedia survey he said he has been licensed and practicing real estate for more than 40 years in the North Texas area.[1] In that survey he said he was elected to the Sachse City Council in 1998 and again in 2001, and later to the Garland City Council in 2013, with re-election in 2015.[1]

Stanley advanced from the Republican primary on March 3, 2026.[1] In his 2024 survey, he said he wants a more directed effort at permanently reducing property taxes, leading to their elimination, and listed over-taxation and school choice among his policy interests.[1] He also called for election-integrity changes, including restoring neighborhood voting precincts and paper poll books.[1]
