Biography

Shery Olivo is the Conservative Party nominee for NY Assembly District 86 in the Bronx, after losing the June 23, 2026 Republican primary to Maria Diaz. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the Bronx, she is an entrepreneur who says she is running on public safety, education and cost-of-living themes.[1][2][3]

Shery Olivo was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the Bronx, according to her campaign website.[2] She earned a high school diploma from Morris High School and an associate degree from Monroe College in 2010, and Ballotpedia lists her career experience as working as an entrepreneur.[1]

In her Ballotpedia Candidate Connection survey, Olivo describes herself as a Dominican-American community advocate, author, wife and mother; her campaign website describes her as a wife, mother of two and entrepreneur.[1][2] She says her decision to run was driven in part by the death of her nephew, Juan Peña.[1][2] After the Republican primary loss, she advanced unopposed on the Conservative Party line for the November 2026 general election.[3]
