Biography
Shawn Savela is the Republican candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives, District 8B, in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2] A software consultant and small business owner from Duluth, he said in a Ballotpedia survey that he is running to control state spending.[2][3]
Shawn Savela was born in Ely, Minnesota, graduated from Duluth Central High School, and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1990 and a graduate degree there in 2021.[2] Ballotpedia lists his career experience as including work as a software consultant and business owner.[2]
In a 2024 Ballotpedia survey, Savela said he grew up in rural Duluth, moved back to the area in 2017, and had owned a small business for 26 years.[3] He said his key messages were controlling state spending and fraud, energy diversity with "all options on the table," and reviewing and reducing regulations.[3]
